Περίληψη
The height of the prosthetic component, the material selection, and the transmucosal design play critical roles in the preservation of marginal bone around dental implants.
Adequate prosthetic height influences the distribution of occlusal forces and the establishment of a stable peri-implant soft tissue seal, both of which are essential for minimizing crestal bone loss. Insufficient height may compromise biological width formation and increase stress concentration at the implant–abutment interface, potentially leading to marginal bone remodeling.
Material choice also significantly affects peri-implant bone stability. Biocompatible materials such as titanium and zirconia promote favorable soft tissue integration and reduce inflammatory responses, thereby contributing to the maintenance of marginal bone levels. Surface characteristics, elastic modulus, and corrosion resistance further influence stress transmission and long-term tissue health.
Additionally, prosthetic contour and emergence profile are decisive factors in preserving marginal bone. A properly designed transmucosal profile supports soft tissue architecture, facilitates hygiene, and reduces plaque accumulation, all of which help prevent peri-implant inflammation and subsequent bone loss. Conversely, over-contoured or poorly adapted restorations may increase microbial retention and mechanical overload.
Understanding the interplay between prosthetic height, material properties, and prosthetic form is essential for optimizing implant success and ensuring long-term marginal bone stability.
